Increasing grain yield while maintaining baking quality in Canada Western Red Spring wheat

چکیده
Grain protein concentration (GPC) is considered one of the most important quality factors, and it has remained a major culling criterion in Canadian wheat cultivar development registration process. However, grain composition also plays critical role determining end-use cereal-based products. The objective this study was to determine whether high-yielding, lower Canada Western Red Spring (CWRS) analog lines can exhibit acceptable baking properties (comparable with CWRS cultivars) under contrasting soil nitrogen levels. Five CWRS-analog together four Prairie cultivar, representing wide ranges yield potential, were assessed for agronomic traits multi-environment trials at three locations five fertilizer rates. produced significantly higher and, on average, 0.9% less GPC than cultivars. Despite GPC, such as W07786 exhibited suitable stable performance across all Based genotype × trait biplot analysis, mainly associated sodium dodecyl sulfate sedimentation flour water absorption. Our findings revealed that possible develop cultivars up 15% modern comparable characteristics by reducing current requirements (by 1%) while simultaneously selecting improved attributes. This would facilitate an increase genetic gains maintaining favorable improving crop competitiveness western Canada.

Raising yield potential of wheat. III. Optimizing partitioning to grain while maintaining lodging resistance.
A substantial increase in grain yield potential is required, along with better use of water and fertilizer, to ensure food security and environmental protection in future decades. For improvements in photosynthetic capacity to result in additional wheat yield, extra assimilates must be partitioned to developing spikes and grains and/or potential grain weight increased to accommodate the extra a...

Assessing variety mixture of continuous spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) on grain yield and flour quality in Northeast China
Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety mixtures represent a relatively unexplored avenue for maintaining yield and improving flour quality. A field experiment was conducted to examine the responses of three spring wheat varieties in pure variety and in variety mixtures under continuous cropping in Northeast China. Three modern spring wheat varieties, along with a three-variety mixture and a t...

The effects of salinity stress on grain quality traits of wheat were investigated using 180 lines of F5 generation in two environments (normal and salinity stress). A randomized complete block designs with three replications was used in each of the environments at the Research Farm of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Station of Isfahan in 2019-2020 cropping season. Grain yield, p...
متن کاملIntercropping wheat with pea for improved wheat baking quality
Field pea (Pisum sativum L.) and wheat (Triticum sativum L.) were either sole cropped or intercropped in a complete design of five relative proportions and five density levels to determine the effects of interspecific interaction in an intercrop on wheat baking quality. It is shown how pea interspecific competitive ability for factors such as light and water results in an increase in wheat prot...
